Automobile engineering B.E sem 7 syllabus of all subjects

(1) Automotive Component and system Design (3170202):

Rationale: The course aims to impart basic skills of force analysis, understanding of automobile systems, and design of automobile components.

(2) Vehicle Dynamics (3170203):

Rationale: To understand the principle and performance of vehicle in various modes such as longitudinal, vertical and lateral directions. At the end of the course the student will be able to identify the various forces and loads and performance under acceleration, ride and braking.

(3) Measurement, Instrumentation and Control in Automobile (3170208)

Rationale: Explain the types of measuring systems and their characteristics. The thorough knowledge in mechanical and electromechanical measuring instruments develops the ability to design and judge the use of particular instruments in their industrial exposure. Knowledge in Various experimental techniques develop the design skills of students.

(4) Automotive Aerodynamics and Aesthetics (3170209):

Rationale: At the end of the course, the students will be able to apply basic principles of aerodynamics for the design of vehicle body and importance of aesthetics.

(5) Automotive Noise Vibration and Harshness (3170211):

Rationale: The course aims to impart basic skills of force analysis, understanding of automobile systems, and design of automobile components.

(6) Automotive Pollution and Control (3170212):

Rationale: The main objective of this course is to impart knowledge in automotive pollution control. The detailed concept of formation and control techniques of pollutants like UBHC, CO, NOx, particulate matter and smoke for both SI and CI engine will be taught to the students. The instruments for measurement of pollutants and emission standards will also be introduced to the students. At the end of the course the students will have command over automotive pollution and control.

(7) Product Lifecycle Management (3170213):

Rationale: Product lifecycle Management is an essential tool for coping with the challenges of more demanding global competition and ever-shortening product and component lifecycles and growing customer needs. New, better and more flexible products must be introduced into markets more quickly, with more profit and less labor, and the lifecycle of each product must be better controlled. In order to perform well financially, companies must be able to make informed decisions concerning the lifecycle of each product in their portfolio. To do this well, the subject is designed for students to understand each aspect of product and lifecycle of product.

(8) Vehicle and Road Safety (3170214):

Rationale: Subject is designed to cover various and concerned over utilizing appropriate safety procedures with maintenance & service of vehicles and generate awareness about road accidents, traffic rules and characteristics of accident, people’s responsibilities and duties for road safety, imparting knowledge about importance of multidisciplinary approach to planning for traffic safety and rehabilitation.

(9) Advance Combustion Technology of I.C. Engine (3170215):

Rationale: At the end of the course, the students will apply scientific basis of knowledge and summarized skilfully the overall findings, as reflected in all topics. The students will able to identify the problems related to combustion of existing and future IC engine and also develop scientific approach to solve these problems.

(10) Electric, Hybrid and Fuel cell Vehicles (3170216):

Rationale: This course goes deeper into the various aspects of hybrid and electric drive train such as their configuration, types of electric machines that can be used, energy storage devices, etc. Each topic will be developed in logical progression with up-to-date information.

(11) Refrigeration and Air-conditioning  (3171918):

Rationale: The course is designed to give fundamental knowledge of types of refrigeration, refrigeration cycles, refrigerants and their behavior under various conditions, air conditioning load calculation and designing of components of air distribution system.

(12) Finite Element Methods (3171920):

Rationale: The course aims to impart basic skills of formulation and application of finite element methods for the analysis of mechanical systems.

(13) Industrial Internet of Things (3171930):

Rationale: IoT will change industries and transform the way we work and live. Industrial companies are already pivoting from Products to Services leveraging IoT technologies – this digital transformation is more broadly called the Industrial IoT or Industrial Internet. The objective of this subject is make students aware about this latest technology, its application and to identify future scope for better manufacturing system.

(14) Nanotechnology and Surface Engineering (3171931):

Rationale: To make students understand the use of concept of nanotechnology and nanoscience in the industries and in consumer products. The surface properties must be modified for aesthetics, oxidation resistance, hardness, wear resistance, fatigue resistance or other considerations. This course will be useful for the student to develop essential skill & knowledge of the surface coating technologies in demand.
